Detox DL: Every day you’ll sip six numbered juices that are delivered in a cooler pack to your door. The customizable cleanse lets you choose how long you want to detox (most go with 3 days), as well as pick your level of intensity. On BPC’s beginner-level Renovation cleanse, you’ll start the day with one of two green juices, followed by pineapple mint juice, one spicy lemonade, a bottle of carrot, apple, and beet juice , and a filling serving of cashew milk that’s spiced with vanilla and cinnamon. The more intense your cleanse, the more green juices and fewer fruit juices you’ll get. If you’re not up to the all-juice challenge, BPC also offers a Juice ’Til Dinner program that includes four juices, as well as a vegan snack, small dinner, and dessert (all of which are provided for you).
Calories: 900 to 1,100 calories per day, depending on your level, for the all- juice cleanse; individual drinks vary between 110 (spicy lemonade) and 300 calories (cashew milk); 1,400 to 1,650 calories per day for Juice ’Til Dinner
Pricing: $85 per day, shipping included; reduced prices if you can pick up your juices or live in New York City
Pros: On the BPC, you’re getting loads of veggies that you likely wouldn’t eat, says Glassman. Plus, you are eliminating a lot of processed sugars, sodium, and bad fats. A 3-day Renovation cleanse is simple to follow and relatively satisfying. The midmorning pineapple mint juice provides a much-needed sugar rush; the agave-sweetened spicy lemonade contains a kick of cayenne pepper to help curb cravings midafternoon; and cashew milk, rich in healthy fats, is a perfect nightcap, making it easy to sleep through the night. Plus, BPC gives daily e-mail encouragement and has a support line you can call.
Cons: The detox—especially the advanced Excavation cleanse—is a little low in calories, and you’re not meeting your daily recommended intake of fiber or protein. Taste-wise, the juices are a little acidic.
Verdict: “The BluePrintCleanse is okay,” says Glassman. “You’re getting an adequate amount of calories on it, and green juices are good for you.” That being said, you might feel some hunger pangs because you usually don’t feel as satisfied when you drink your calories. “Juice ’Til Dinner is preferable to a straight juice cleanse,” adds Zuckerbrot. “However, the best diet is one that is based on whole foods.”
