Equinox Gets Creative with Juicing
Equinox health clubs are always ahead of the curve. So when I walked into Creative Juice, their brand new cold-pressed juice café, I was expecting to be amazed and they delivered. With a menu developed by New York City chef Michael Romano, it’s the first juice bar to offer chef-inspired blends that pack a nutritional punch.
You won’t see the typical strawberry-kiwi, berry-banana mixes on the menu. Every juice is handcrafted and has a one-of-a-kind profile, like their antioxidant boosting mix that includes juniper berry and black mission fig, flavors that are robust yet inspiring.
If you're new to juicing you may think it's safer to stick with ingredients that can be a bit more forgiving, but a little experimentation could be beneficial to your taste buds and your health. “Fresh juices are loaded with natural vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that we need to stay healthy," says Jeffrey Morrison, MD, a health advisory board member for Equinox. “Everything from healthier skin, to less fluid retention, to fewer infections can occur from consuming fresh juice and following a healthy meal plan,” he says. The more fruits and vegetables you try, the more vitamins and minerals you'll tap into.
So the next time you squeeze, shake things up by adding seasonal fruits and veggies to your typical blends. If you really want to get creative, try whipping up your own version of chef Romano’s mixes below. Just grab a blender and let the creative juices flow.
Green Means Go: Swiss chard, kale, spinach, cucumber, ginger, kohlrabi, and fresh herbs
