Quick Tips to Fight the Flu
Turn on the TV and you’ll see terrifying reports of hospitals being overrun with flu patients. Hop on the subways and people are coughing and sneezing all over the place. Show up at work and half the office is out sick. It feels like the country has become one giant Petri dish! Right now, good nutrition and regular exercise are essential to keeping your immune system strong. “A strong immune system doesn’t guarantee your body can fight off every flu bug, but it is a powerful defense,” says Heather Mangieri, registered dietitian and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics spokesperson. To keep you in optimal health, we’ve rounded up some of our best diet and exercise tips for fighting off the flu.
